Bio

Dr. Mark Puckett specializes in using microfossils to date rocks and provide paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic information. For example, studies of the ostracods of the Caribbean region showed that Jamaica was attached to Mexico 65 million years ago. I'm currently using a computer system (CONOP) to combine information from many measured sections into a single chronostratigraphic framework, focusing on the 20 million years prior to the Cretaceous/Paleogene extinction event. There's more than a lifetime of work in this field, so graduate students are welcome!
